Planning on heading north to chase the snow this winter? We chat to our team skiers and snowboarders about their favourite spots to migrate to for the northern hemisphere ski season.
In 2017, we dispatched a team of the world's finest explorers to the Queen Maud Land territory where they spent a month climbing and establishing new routes on the Wolf's Jaw massif. Enduring brutal storms and freezing winds, these six athletes put our pinnacle alpine equipment to the test during the ultimate expedition at the bottom of the world.
At 3,724 metres, Aoraki / Mount Cook is half the size of famed 8000 metre peaks in the Himalayan and Karakoram ranges, and smaller than those of the Seven Summits, except for Australia's own Mount Kosciuszko. But what Aoraki lacks in size, is made up for in technical difficulty, heavy glaciation and severe, ever-changing weather, making it a trial to be tested only by experienced mountaineers when weather allows. For Sam Smoothy, his desire to climb the perilous peak came first from hearing of his parent's experience on the mountain. The Sky Piercer, a CoLab Creative film, is a homage to the country he loves, and its highest mountain.
As Lauren Jones prepared for a family expedition with her husband and one-year-old daughter, that would cover 1800km from the centre of Australia to the south coast, she was surprised by the amount of waste and single-use plastic that is a part of travel and outdoor exploration. A long time sustainability advocate and strategist, it was only natural that Lauren would set out to work towards zero-waste expeditioning. Believing in the power of collaboration and human experience to make a positive impact, Lauren has set out a few of her learnings that can be adapted to your next multi-day hike or camping trip.
To celebrate the launch of the Campshire Collection earlier this year, we teamed up with We Are Explorers and Capital Brewing to give 6 winners a chance to climb, hike and camp in the Blue Mountains with team climbers Ben and Lee Cossey.
